Although my parents are still alive I have lost family members who were close to me. I remember the post you had posted on the SS list a while back when it was your father's birthday and how he was a war heroe in WWII and how took notice of the lovely nurse that was by his bedside. Your father seemed like he had a zest for life. You are fortunate to have been raised by a good man. I'll bet he was very proud of you for making a mark on the world with speed seduction. I have such an easiness with words.... but never really exploited this pontential; I finally started to understand what is going on, and how female mind works.... thank you; you make a difference in this.... and again, you are making a difference.... Life has filled that time with the thoughts that are coming to you and the feelings you have about those thoughts. What a great time to honor the memory of your dad, what a great time to let those thougts and memories surface. Some of those thoughts and memories may be too delicatte to bubble up to the top in all the hustle the activity and the noise in Marina. When I get gifts like the one you have received this Independence Day, it reminds me of a man carrying a heavy box that is about to slip from his grasp. As he takes the time to set his load down and rest for just a moment, his earlier strength returns to him, and the soreness of holding nto the load leaves his hands and his fingers. When he picks up his load and resumes the journey he is on, the load seems lighter, his step has more spring to it and his heart once again fills with the joy of the journey he has chosen. I do not kow if Kadish is a part of your practice, but it seems like you and your dad have somehow comspired together to carve out a space to be together once again as he lives on in your thoughts. That song in your heart is his joy at being honored and remembered by his son. Please listen for it in the queitness of your time in the dessert. This weekend may look like slowing down, and stopping, and inconvenience for you. It is actually you going farther and farther.
