Wow. Your response to my prior post on Resolutions vs. Resolve was quite strong.

So today I’ll continue on in the discussion.

Let me start with a discussion I had way back in 1993 when I first came out with the Unstoppable Confidence Course.

I was telling a girl, Lan, about the course and how it built confidence for men.

She asked me a stunningly good question.

“Is that confidence a state? Or is it a trait?”

Fantastic distinction there.

For most of us, resolve comes down to temporarily working ourselves into a “bubble” of motivation, enthusiasm, etc.

As long as that temporary bubble lasts-or events go our way-we keep right on going.

There are a few problems with this approach:

1. Events don’t always go our way.  Especially when we are first trying out/learning new skills, new ways of thinking, and new ways of interpreting events.

An example of that last point:  have you ever seemingly done quite well with a woman, hung out/made out, and then she never calls you back?  How do you handle that? Confusion? Frustration? Resentment? How long before you can reset  yourself, incorporate what you did RIGHT, see what you need to correct, and get back out there in the field?

2. Working yourself up into a state of motivation takes time and maintaining it can burn energy.  I’m not saying it is never useful.  Just pointing out the limitations.

The Elements Of The Quality Of Resolve

I think to possess the quality of resolve requires a few elements.  I’ll just outline them here and in a later post, get into how to get and keep those elements.

1. A vision of where you’d like to go and how you would like to be, that is independent of support from your environment or how things are going on any particular day.

2. A set of beliefs about learning and a method/process for learning from your actions and behavior.

3. A clear set of values-what is achieving where you want to be going to allow you to experience?  And what values do you want to uphold and live from while you are on the journey? (this is key)

4. A set of rituals/procedures to enforce all of this.

Dear Speed Seduction(R) Student,

As I point out in my Speed Seduction 3.0 Course, one of the keys to energy-efficient, low effort(read “lazy ass”) seduction where the women do most of the work is applying the 3 “S’s”: Screening, Selectivity, and Standards.

Today I was at the local Starbucks for some late morning coffee, when I put this principle into effect.

You see, as I was enjoying my medium-size espresso add-shot I started casually chatting with a woman in her mid-thirties who turned out to be Polish.

Now, to look at, this lady was pretty hot.

But then she opened her mouth.

She told me about her childhood, where she lived in a town on the German/Polish border called “Frankenstein”.   How she used to play in the shadow of the Castle. How the memories of the cold and the shadows still call to her at times in her mind.

You think I’m making this up, don’t you?

No.  Remember, I live in LA. Fruit-loops and hooples like this are the rule, not the exception.

But here is the thing: back when I was utterly clueless about women, I would have jumped at the chance to get into the short and curlies of a girl who looked this good. I had no process for screening women, and I had no standards, and no selectivity.

Today?  Well, assuming for a moment that I didn’t have my lovely and smoking hot Swedish sweetheart, Pernilla, and that I was single again, even then I wouldn’t touch this “Young Frankensteinette” with a ten foot pole.  I know how difficult whack-jobs can be, and they are actually, contrary to rumour, awful in bed.

(If of course your view of sex is that it is only about stimulation and discharging your load, you might see it differently than I.  Personally, it has to be more than a living centerfold come to life so I can use their body to jack off).

Here is the biggest irony: the more selective a man is, the greater the selection a man has.

A hard path to follow when you  haven’t been touched by a woman in a long time, but exercising that awareness and discipline in action can swing your bedroom door wide open to a fabulous flow of cuties who are also damn fine human beings.

Dear Speed Seduction(R) Student,

One of the most commonly asked questions by my students is how to handle flakey women.

If you subscribe to my newsletter, you know that I’ve written about this several times.

But one point I don’t think I’ve driven home very well is that sometimes, her flaking on you is the best thing that could possibly happen.

Look: I live in Los Angeles, the world-wide capital of weirdos, space-cases, nut-jobs and hooples. So my view of things may be a bit extreme.

But many of the women out here are seriously “lost in the sauce”. They are busily chasing after fantasy careers involving Hollywood stardom, Academy Awards, record-contracts, etc.  All of which they are vigorously pursuing as they wait tables or patrol the sales-racks at Wal-mart.

And the amount of drama they love to generate just to remind themselves they are alive would curl your hair.

Just recently, I had to fire a woman who was a part of my team.  I won’t get into the reasons, but suffice it to say it was not a pleasant thing to have to do. I liked the woman in question and she became something of a friend.

But oh my God and Pippi Longstocking, was she flakey.

Every other day there was another crisis.  Her best friend’s dog died, and SHE was hysterically upset about her friend’s loss.

She wrecked her car-totalled it-because she swerved to avoid a cat running across the road.  So her back and neck were fucked up for 3 weeks.

She had a kidney infection that put her in the hospital for ten days.

She couldn’t sleep because(and I’m not making this up): THE GHOSTS IN HER HOUSE WERE MAKING TOO MUCH NOISE IN HER WALLS!

Now, the funny thing is this: this chick, lookswise, is pretty damn hot. She always had men(and women) after her.   You would think that a chance to hook up with her would be a great thing, right?

No.

No.

No.

This girl was a walking train-wreck.  And if you met her at a bar and she gave you a phony number or never called you back then….

…She Would Have Been Doing You A Favor!!!

Now listen: I don’t want you to get sloppy and use this as an excuse to have anything other than great skills when it comes to so attracting women, you don’t have to worry about them calling you back, because you are nailing them BEFORE that even comes up.

But do bear in mind that somtimes the worst dramas come packaged in the hottest wrappings.
